When Should You Replace Your Replace TY-LA1000 Lamp?
The easiest way to know you should replace your TY-LA1000 lamp is when you get a message on your TV screen that says, “The lamp needs to be replaced, and the lamp hour meter needs to be reset.”

That’s pretty straight-forward. Sometimes the TY-LA1000 lamp won’t light up at all, and the message won’t show on the screen. Also, your picture quality may deteriorate (too dim) before you see the message as well.
Best practice is to get and keep a backup spare TY-LA1000 lamp in your home, especially if you haven’t changed your lamp in a while. It’s normal for lamps to go out. Just like a light bulb, they’re not designed to last forever.
I wouldn’t recommend you buying just the bare bulb. Get the full lamp and housing. To install just the bulb requires use of wire cutters and a soldering iron. It’s too easy to screw that replacement up. It’s so much easier, safer, and quicker to get and install the full lamp and housing together.
